What is teacher assessment?
Teacher assessment is a way that teachers are evaluated on their performance in a classroom. Teacher evaluation is a complicated process to work through. Many types consist of observations, surveys, walk-throughs, and evaluation forms. In the majority of schools teacher assessment also includes a pre-observation meeting and a post-observation meeting in order to communicate to teachers their strengths and weaknesses and ways to improve upon their skills. It is meant to be a way to examine a teacher's performance as a way to benefit both a teacher and the students in their classroom. It is crucial in teacher assessment that the evaluators have knowledge of the curriculum, the students dynamic, and evaluation system in order to be effective. After these evaluations are completed, many districts send their teachers to professional development meetings and classes in order to improve on the skills in which they are lacking proficiency in.
